We need to advance our climate change education. Across the world, we only have an ad hoc, fragmentary approach that rarely gets beyond the basics or clichés. Our limited response is not just to be found in the content, but also in the pedagogy and strategy.
The Climate Academy has 3 Pillars. The first, Systems Understanding, provides depth and coherence to the content. The second, Civic Engagement, provides depth and leverage to our projects and actions.
Having a systems view of the crisis is not just a detail. This new framing of the climate crisis transforms the way in which all the details are understood. We offer a full 360° view of the crisis. The systems informed materials are engaging and underpinned by the latest science.
After establishing a secure understanding, The Climate Academy offers two pathways to engage in the civic space. The first is through “Publications”, such as articles, podcasts, videos or art. The second is through “Events”, such as talks with special guests, green summits, street plays or street protests.
This third pillar is not directly taught. It sometimes arises when the engagement in the systems puzzles of the programme reaches a significant depth. Systems Entrepreneurship is about being able to navigate through these complexities and achieve results that have impact that typically have legacy, or manage to cross intersectional boundaries.
